The GSG (German Sports Guns) 522 is a real steel replica of the H&K MP5, but chambered in .22LR. GSG have altered the design slightly as to avoid copyright infringment and legal scrutiny, as well as to improve upon the design by making the gun easier to manipulate i.e. stippled grip, moulded sling bracket into trigger guard, enhanced cocking handle and improved rear sight. These changes were as a result of a law suit filed by H&K, and have served to give the GSG-522 its own identity.
In airsoft this means you have an enhanced version of the MP5 with all of the benefits of the aforementioned features.
The GSG-522 IS (Integrated Silencer) comes as standard with a 3 position retractable stock, mechanical blowback simulating the real steel, as well as the quick detach integrated silencer. This is one of the few silencers that will quieten the shots from your gun, however due to the blowback it is not noticed unless you lock the bolt to the rear.
Manufactured by CYMA, this gun is constructed out of a durable and high quality metal, and has a very matte finish. You would be forgiven for thinking it a real firearm. The gun features a plastic handguard which houses a 9.6v nunchuck style battery making it one of the only MP5-style rifles capable of holding a 9.6v battery. Another excellent feature of the GSG-522 is that it comes out of the box with a top rail allowing you to mount a multitude of optics etc
As with all MP5's, this rifle features completely ambidextrous controls; fire selector, mag release, stock adjustment etc.
